Topic: Counting and sequencing to 10

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to name and identify numbers from 1-10.
• Students will be able to count and sequence up to 10.

Materials

• Card with numbers 1-10 written on it
• Card with counting cards from 1-10 (optional)

Warm-up

• Show the students the card with numbers 1-10 written on it and ask them to name the numbers out loud.
• Next, have the students count out the counting cards from 1-10, asking them to say the number out loud as they count.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of numbers to the students, explaining that numbers are used to represent how many objects there are.
• Show the students the cards with numbers 1-10 written on them and ask them to name the numbers out loud.
• Have the students practice counting out the counting cards from 1-10, asking them to say the number out loud as they count.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into pairs and give each pair a set of counting cards.
• Ask the students to count out the cards together, helping them as needed.

Independent Practice

• Ask the students to sit in a circle and take turns presenting a number card to the group.
• The group must guess the number represented by the card.

Closure

• Review the numbers from 0 to 10 and ask the students to give examples of objects or -Ask the students to draw or make something that represents a specific number.
• Ask the students to share or talk about their creations.

Assessment

• Observe the students during independent practice to see if they are able to identify and -Ask the students to give the number of objects in a group.
• Ask the students to count the number of objects and then write the number in words.
