Topic: Number recognition

Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify numbers 0-10.

Materials

• Whiteboard and markers
• Numbers 0-10 in various forms (e.g. written, spoken, visual)

Warm-up

• Review the concept of numbers with the class. Ask them to name the numbers they can count to.
• Present the numbers 0-10 in various forms (e.g. written, spoken, visual) and have the class identify them.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of number recognition and the numbers 0-10.
• Demonstrate how to identify each number by matching it to its corresponding finger or hand gesture (e.g. 0 = no fingers, 1 = one finger, 2 = two fingers, 3 = three fingers, etc.).
• Ask the class to repeat the number recognition exercise with you.

Guided Practice

• Have the class work in pairs or small groups to practice identifying numbers 0-10.
• Have them use the provided flashcards or other materials to help them identify the numbers.
• Have them use the finger or hand gestures to help them identify the numbers.
