Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Picture cards of Peruvian regional instruments
• Handouts with information about the instruments

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they know what a symbol is and if they can name any symbols they are familiar with.
• Show the students a picture card of a Peruvian regional instrument and ask them to guess what it is and where it is from.

Direct Instruction

• Explain that symbols are objects or images that represent something else.
• Show the students more picture cards of Peruvian regional instruments and explain what each one is and where it is from.
• Discuss the characteristics of each region and the unique characteristics of each instrument.

Guided Practice

• Give each student a set of picture cards of Peruvian regional instruments and have them work in pairs to match the instruments to their corresponding regions.
• Walk around the room and provide support and guidance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students work in groups to create a poster or skit that shows the different Peruvian regional instruments and their uses.
• Encourage students to be creative and use their language skills to communicate their ideas.

Closure

• Have each group present their poster or skit to the class.
