Tool Lesson Plan for Kindergarten Example Students

Topic: Tools

 

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to name at least 10 common tools and describe the uses of each.

Materials

• List of common tools (hammer, screwdriver, drill, saw, etc.)
• Pictures of each tool
• Index cards and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever used any tools at home. Ask them to name the tools and explain how they are used.
• Review the list of tools and ask students to name any that they have already mentioned.

Direct Instruction

• Show the students the various tools and explain their names and uses.
• Demonstrate how to use each tool, using the sample materials if necessary.

Guided Practice

• Have the students work in pairs and demonstrate how to use the tools.
• Have the students try the tools themselves, with your guidance.

Independent Practice

• Have the students create a project using the tools.
• Encourage them to be creative and use their imagination.
• Have the students present their projects to the class.

Closure

• Review the names of the tools and their uses.
• Ask the students to share their projects and explain how they used the tools to create them.
• Encourage the students to continue to use tools in their projects in the future.

Assessment

• Observe the students during independent practice and make note of which tools they are --using and how they are using them.
• Evaluate the students' projects and provide feedback on their use of tools.
