Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to define key vocabulary related to jet engines and explain their function.

Materials

• Jet engine manuals
• Texts from jet engine's manuals
• Interactive games
• Flashcards with key vocabulary

Warm-up

• Show students a picture of a jet engine and ask them to describe what they see.
• Ask them to name the parts of the jet engine they can identify.
• Write the names of the parts on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the term "jet engine" and explain that it is used to power airplanes.
• Show students more pictures of different types of jet engines and ask them to identify the parts again.
• Have a brief discussion about the function of each part and how it works together to power the airplane.
• Distribute the handouts with useful vocabulary and have a brief discussion about the meaning of each word.
• Read texts from jet engine's manuals and discuss the content with the class.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and give each group a set of flashcards with pictures of different parts of a jet engine.
