Futsal Skills Lesson Plan for 9th Grade Example Students

Topic: Futsal Skills

Objectives & Outcomes

  • By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify and demonstrate effective futsal skills in a game situation.

Materials

  • Futsal ball
  • Futsal court or gym floor
  • Timing device (e.g. stopwatch, clock with second hand)

Warm-up

  • Review the importance of futsal and the benefits of playing the sport.
  • Have students do a five-minute jog to get warmed up.
  • Then, have students participate in a small-sided game of futsal (4v4 or 5v5) to give them an idea of what the game is like and to introduce them to the rules and concepts of futsal.

Instruction

  • Once the warm-up is completed, introduce the basics of futsal to the students, including the layout of the court, the equipment used, and the rules of the game.
  • Demonstrate each skill, first with the ball and then without it, as you explain the purpose of each skill and how it contributes to the overall strategy of the game.
  • For each skill, have students watch and then try it themselves, with assistance as needed.

Guided Practice

  • Divide the students into small groups and assign each group a specific skill to work on.
  • Have the students work together to practice the skill, with guidance from the teacher as needed.
  • As the groups work, circulate around the room to provide additional guidance and assistance as needed.

Independent Practice

  • Have the students choose a specific skill to work on independently.
  • Have the students practice the skill for a set period of time (e.g. 10 minutes) or until they feel they have mastered the skill.

Closure

  • Review the key points of the lesson and have the students share what they have learned.
  • Have the students demonstrate their newly-acquired futsal skills.
  • Encourage further practice and ask the students to share any additional drills or exercises they found helpful.

Assessment:

  • Observation of the students during the guided and independent practice activities to ensure they are demonstrating proper technique and handling of the ball.
  • Observation of the students during the small-sided games to ensure they are applying their futsal skills correctly in a game-like setting.
  • Evaluation of the students' written reports on their chosen futsal superstars to assess their understanding of the players' skill sets and their ability to analyze and discuss their playing style and impact on the game.
