Warm-up

• Ask students to share their favourite subject at school.
• Ask students to share a fun fact about maths.
• Write their responses on the whiteboard.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of a maths group and its purpose.
• Explain the learning expectations for the group.
• Show the handouts with the learning expectations and review them as a group.

Guided Practice

• Work as a group to complete a math problem on the handout.
• Use the whiteboard or a math grid to facilitate discussions around the problem.
• Go through the solution together and discuss how to solve the problem.
• Encourage questions and provide support as needed.

Independent Practice

• Work on a math problem individually or in pairs.
• Use the whiteboard or a math grid to write out the steps to solve the problem.
• Encourage questions and provide support as needed.

Closure

• Review the math problems and the steps to solve them. Ask for any questions or for volunteers to share their solutions.
• Ask the group to share any fun facts about math that they learned during the class.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the independent practice and provide feedback on their math skills and their ability to work collaboratively in a group.
