Free Fashion And Environment Lesson Plan for 9th Grade Students

Topic: Fashion and environment

Objectives & Outcomes

• To introduce the basic concepts of fashion and environment
• To analyze the relationship between fashion and the environment, and the role of urban tribes in this relationship

Materials

• Picture collage of urban tribes outfits
• Handouts with vocabulary related to fashion, environment and urban tribes accessories

Warm-up

• Ask students to share their knowledge about fashion and the environment. What are the impacts of fashion on the environment? How can we be more sustainable in our fashion choices?

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the terms "fashion," "environment," and "urban tribes." Ask students to brainstorm examples of fashion and environmental issues. Write their ideas on the board.
• Distribute the handouts with definitions and examples of the terms. Have students read through the definitions and examples, and ask them to note any questions or misunderstandings.
• Using the definitions and examples, explain the importance of fashion and the environment. Emphasize the need to be more sustainable and considerate of the environment in our fashion choices.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a specific fashion trend. e.g. Urban tribes, gothic, punk, hippie, etc.
• Have each group research their assigned trend and create a visual representation on a poster board. e.g. images of people wearing the trend, illustrations of fashion elements, etc.
• Have each group present their poster board to the class and explain their chosen trend.

Independent Practice

• Have students choose one of the trends presented in the lesson and create a personal look based on that trend.
• Have students create a visual representation of their personal look on a poster board. e.g. images of themselves wearing the look, illustrations of fashion elements, etc.
• Have students present their poster board to the class and explain their chosen trend and personal look.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson with the students.
• Ask students to reflect on the importance of considering the environment in their fashion choices and how urban tribes accessories can help them do this.

Assessment

• Observe students during the project-based learning activity and provide feedback on their understanding of the three topics covered in the lesson.
• Ask students to reflect on their own fashion choices and their impact on the environment in a written or oral presentation.
