Topic: Cyber Security Certification Requirements

Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • List of cyber security certifications (e.g. CISSP, CEH, CHFI, etc.)
  • Documentation on the requirements for each certification

Warm-up

  • Ask students what they know about cyber security and their job prospects with a cyber security certification.
  • Write their answers on the board and discuss as a class.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of cyber security and explain that it refers to the measures taken to protect computer systems and data from attack or damage.
  • Discuss the importance of cyber security and the role of cyber security professionals in protecting organizations and individuals from cyber threats.
  • Explain that a certification is a formal recognition that an individual has the required knowledge, skills, and experience to perform a specific job.
  • Provide a brief overview of the different types of cyber security certifications and their requirements (e.g. passing an exam, completing a course of study, or demonstrating specific skills).

  • Have the students share their brochures or posters with the class.
  • Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned about the chosen certification during their research.
