Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify the different steps in the research process and understand their roles and responsibilities at each step.

Materials

  • Handout with the research process outlined
  • Examples of research projects at different stages of the process

Warm-up

  • Ask students to share their experiences with research projects they have done in the past. What processes did they go through to complete the project? What challenges did they face?
  • Write down the processes they mention on the board and discuss as a class.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of the research process and explain that it is a set of steps that researchers follow when conducting a project.
  • Use the handout to explain each step of the process:
