Warm-up

  • Review the meanings of the present simple and past simple.
  • Ask students to provide examples of each.
  • Write the examples on the whiteboard.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the present continuous tense, explaining that it is used to talk about actions that are happening now or are ongoing.
  • Write the present continuous tense on the whiteboard and have students copy it into their notebooks.
  • Provide examples of how to use the present continuous, both with and without time expressions.
  • Have students practice using the present continuous, both with and without time expressions.
