Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to log into adobe photoshop and understand the various features and tools available to them.

Materials

• Computer with adobe photoshop installed
• Instructor will provide any specialized tools or materials as needed

Warm-up

• Ask students what they know about adobe photoshop. Write their responses on the board.
• Ask students what kinds of things they might typically do with adobe photoshop. Write their responses on the board.
• Ask students to name any other popular photo editing programs they may have heard of. Write their responses on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Show students how to open adobe photoshop and navigate the interface (e.g. showing them how to open and save files, how to access tools and features, etc.).
• Demonstrate how to use the various tools in adobe photoshop (e.g. the selection tools, the brush tools, the retouching tools, etc.).
• Show students how to make basic edits to photos in adobe photoshop (e.g. how to crop, how to adjust contrast and saturation, how to remove blemishes, etc.).
• Explain how to use layers in adobe photoshop (e.g. how to create, edit, and manage layers).

Guided Practice

• Have students work in pairs to complete a series of photoshop tasks (e.g. editing a photo, creating a collage, etc.).
• Walk around the room and provide assistance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students work on a project-based assignment (e.g. creating a poster or greeting card using photoshop).
