Materials

• Computer with internet access
• List of computer hardware terms (provided by teacher)

Warm-up

• Ask students if they are familiar with the different types of computer hardware.
• Ask students to name some computer hardware they have heard of.
• Write their answers on the board and make a list of computer hardware terms.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of computer hardware and explain that it is the physical parts of a computer.
• Show a diagram of a typical computer hardware system and point out the different parts.
• Discuss the functions of each part and give examples of different types of hardware.
• Use the handouts to provide more detailed information about each type of hardware.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups and give each group a list of different types of computer hardware.
• Have the students work together to categorize the hardware into the correct categories identified in the introduction.
• Encourage the students to use the information from the handouts to help them with their categorization.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a list of different types of computer hardware.
• Have the students categorize the hardware into the correct categories identified in the introduction.
• Encourage the students to use the information from the handouts to help them with their categorization.
