Topic: The Co operative classroom

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify examples of a co operative classroom environment.

Materials

• Hand out with examples of cooperative classroom behaviors (e.g. asking for help, sharing information, working together)
• Pencils and paper for students to write their examples

Warm-up

• Ask students to think of a time when they had to work with others to achieve a goal. Have them share their experiences with the class.

Direct Instruction

• Define the term "co operative" and explain that it refers to a group of people working together to achieve a common goal.
• Explain that a co operative classroom is one in which students are encouraged to work together and support each other.
• Provide the hand out to the students and have them read the examples of a co operative classroom.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in small groups to come up with examples of what a co operative classroom environment might look like in their own school.
• Have each group share their examples with the class.

Independent Practice

• Have students use the project planning sheet to develop a plan for creating a co operative classroom environment in their own school.
• Encourage students to include examples of how they could work together with their classmates to create a co operative classroom environment.

Closure
