Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to define the term "globalization" and identify at least three examples of how it impacts their daily lives.

Materials

  • Word wall with printed definition of "globalization"
  • Handouts with examples of how globalization impacts daily life (e.g. international trade, migrant workers, internet access)
  • Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they have ever traveled outside of their hometown.
  • Ask them to share their experiences and how they felt being in a new place.
  • Introduce the term "globalization" and ask students to guess what it means.

Direct Instruction

  • Explain that the term "globalization" refers to the increasing interconnectedness of people, cultures, and economies around the world.
  • Use examples such as the spread of popular culture, the increase in international trade, and the rise of global corporations to illustrate this concept.
