Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to explain the mechanisms of plant and animal reproduction and the roles of hormones and genes in the process.

Materials

• Diagrams of plant and animal reproductive structures
• Handouts with information about plant and animal reproduction
• Colored pencils or markers

Warm-up

• Ask students if they have ever observed the process of reproduction in any living thing. What did they observe?
• Discuss their observations and ask them to share their knowledge about the process of reproduction.

Direct Instruction

• Explain that the process of reproduction is important for the survival of species.
• Introduce the concept of sexual reproduction, explaining that it involves the fusion of male and female sex cells to produce a new organism.
• Discuss the different stages of sexual reproduction in plants and animals, including fertilization, embryonic development, and birth.
• Emphasize the importance of proper nutrition and environmental conditions in the process of reproduction.

Guided Practice:
