Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • Periodic table
  • Pencils and paper for taking notes

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they know what the periodic table is and what it is used for.Allow a few students to answer and discuss their responses.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the topic of the periodic table and its uses.Explain that the periodic table is a table that shows the chemical elements arranged by their properties and properties of their elements.Show students a periodic table and discuss the different categories and groupings on the table.
  • Explain that the periodic table is used to organize the elements and to help us understand their properties and how they interact with each other.It can also be used to predict the properties of elements that have not yet been discovered.

Guided Practice
