Topic: football

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to describe the basic techniques for throwing, catching, and passing a football.

Materials

• footballs
• football gloves (optional)

Warm-up

• Have students stretch and do some light calisthenics to get ready for the lesson.
• Ask students what they know about football and what their favorite part of the game is.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of throwing, catching, and passing in football.
• Demonstrate proper throwing, catching, and passing techniques using a football and a volunteer from the class.
• Explain the importance of teamwork in football, and how proper throwing, catching, and passing enable teams to work together effectively.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a football.
• Have each group work together to practice throwing, catching, and passing the football using the proper techniques demonstrated in class.
• Validate and provide feedback on the students' efforts.
• As a class, discuss the importance of teamwork in football and how proper throwing, catching, and passing enable teams to work together effectively.

Independent Practice

• Have each student complete the "Throwing, Catching, Passing" worksheet, which provides a variety of drills that students can use to practice throwing, catching, and passing the football.
• Encourage students to work independently and complete the worksheet independently, but also to seek assistance from their peers or the teacher if needed.

Closure

• Review the key concepts covered in the lesson, including the proper throwing, catching, and passing techniques for a football, as well as the importance of teamwork and collaboration in football.
• Have students share their completed worksheets with the class, and discuss any challenges or successes they experienced while practicing their throwing, catching, and passing skills.

Assessment
