Topic: THALES AND ITS APPLICATIONS

Objectives & Outcomes

• To understand the concept of THALES and its applications in our daily life

Materials

• Pen and paper for each student
• Handout with definitions and examples of THALES

Warm-up

• Ask the students to share what they know about THALES.
• Ask the students to give an example of a THALES in their daily life.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the name and meaning of THALES.
• Explain that THALES is the distance from the ground to the highest point of a building, structure, or object.
• Explain that THALES can be measured using a tape measure, a laser meter, or an app on a mobile device.
• Show the students how to use a tape measure to measure the THALES of a given object.

Guided Practice

• Provide the students with a worksheet that includes several different objects, such as trees, buildings, and fences.
• Have the students use the tape measure to measure the THALES of each object.
• Have the students write the THALES measurement for each object on the worksheet.

Independent Practice

• Divide the students into small groups and give each group a list of objects or a picture of an object to measure the THALES of.
