Warm-up

Direct Instruction

• Define what a linear equation or inequality is. A linear equation is an equation in which the terms are either multiplied or added by a single number, called the coefficient. An inequality is a statement that one quantity is greater than or less than another quantity, and it is written using the inequality symbols <, >, ≤, ≥.
• Explain how to solve a linear equation or inequality. To solve a linear equation or inequality, we need to isolate the variable by getting it on the left-hand side of the equation. This can be done by adding, subtracting, or multiplying both sides of the equation by the same non-zero number.
