Topic:Timeline projects

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to create a timeline that reflects their life from birth until present day.
• Students will use pictures to represent each year of their life.

Materials

• Pictures of the student's life (e.g. baby picture, kindergarten picture, etc.)
• Construction paper
• Glue
• Scissors
• Markers or colored pencils

Warm-up

• Have students reflect on their life so far and think of some key events or milestones they would like to include on their timeline. Write these down on the board.
• Ask students if they have any questions or additional events they would like to add.
• As a class, go through the list of events and decide which ones will be included on the timeline.

Direct Instruction

• Show students how to use the software to create a timeline.
• Demonstrate how to import and arrange pictures on the timeline.
• Guide students on how to add text and labels to their timeline, including the year and key events.

Guided Practice

• Show students how to use the software to create a timeline.
• Demonstrate how to import and arrange pictures on the timeline.
• Guide students as they add text and labels to their timeline, including the year and key events.

Independent Practice

• Have students work independently to complete their timelines, using the software and any resources provided.
• Encourage students to think about their timeline and the photos they have selected as a reflection of their life and their experiences.

Closure

• Have students share their timelines with the class and discuss their choices and the insights they gained from creating the timeline.
• Discuss the importance of creating a timeline as a way to reflect on one's life and the milestones and experiences that have shaped who we are today.

Assessment

• Observe students during the guided and independent practice to assess their understanding of the concept of creating a timeline.
• Collect and review the timelines to assess student's ability to effectively represent the important events and milestones of their lives.
