Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will understand why dating is not allowed in Islam and why marriage is the optimal solution for young boys and young girls.
• Students will be able to identify the duties and responsibilities of a husband and wife and father and mother.

Materials

• Laptop or desktop computer with internet access
• Projector or monitor
• Images relating to marriage in Islam and duties of a husband and wife and father and mother (optional)

Warm-Up

• Ask the students to share their experiences with dating and marriage.
• Ask the students if they know why dating is not allowed in Islam and why marriage is the optimal solution for young boys and young girls.

Direct Instruction

• Explain that dating is not allowed in Islam because it can lead to fornication (zina).
• Emphasize the importance of marriage in Islam as the optimal solution for young boys and young girls because it safeguards their honor and protects them from falling into sin.
• Explain that marriage also prepares boys to be good husbands and fathers and girls to be good wives and mothers.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and give each group a scenario to work through.
• Have the groups discuss and come up with a solution based on what they have learned about dating and marriage in Islam.
• Have each group present their solution to the class and discuss as a whole group.
• Define for the class what the parameters for a successful marriage in Islam are, and have the class brainstorm ways to prepare for a successful marriage.

Independent Practice

• Have the students work on a project-based independent practice.
• Have the students create a list of things they can do to prepare for a successful marriage in Islam.
• Have the students create a plan to implement their list of things to do to prepare for a successful marriage in Islam.
• Have the students present their lists and plans to the class.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson.
• Have the students share any insights or thoughts they had during the lesson.
• Have the students give their plans for implementing their list of things to do to prepare for a successful marriage in Islam.
