Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify and define the media.
  • Students will be able to identify and analyze the various types of media, including electronic, print, and visual.

Materials

  • Handout with definitions and examples of electronic, print, and visual media
  • Example materials from each type of media (e.g. cell phone, magazine, television)

Warm-up

  • Ask students to share what they know about the media. Write their answers on the board.
  • Discuss the various types of media and their purposes.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of media as a powerful force in society.
  • Discuss the effects of media on individuals, society, and culture.
