Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify the benefits and challenges of a healthy work-life balance and develop strategies for achieving a balance in their own lives.

Materials

• Handout with information about the benefits and challenges of a healthy work-life balance
• Box of mixed candies (optional)

Warm-up

• Ask students to share what they do for fun outside of school. Write their answers on the board.
• Ask students if they have a job or plans to get a job someday. Write their answers on the board.
• Ask students if they feel pressure to succeed in school and at work, and if so, how they manage that pressure.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of work and life balance, explaining that it means finding a healthy balance between work and free time.
• Ask students to brainstorm ways to balance work and free time, writing their ideas on the board.
• Discuss the merits of each idea and come up with a list of practical strategies to help students achieve work and life balance.
