7th Grade Religious Education Recap Lesson Plan (Social Studies)

Topic: Religious Education

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to understand the basic beliefs and practices of Christianity.
• Students will be able to explain the significance of key events and symbols in the Christian faith.

Materials

• Posters or images of key events and symbols in the Christian faith
• Computers with internet access (optional)

Warm-up

• Have students sit in a circle.
• Ask students to think of a question they have about the Christian faith.
• Write the questions on a piece of paper and place it in the middle of the circle.
• Have students take turns answering their questions until all the questions are answered.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the topic of religious education by saying that today, we will be learning about the Christian faith.
• Explain that Christianity is the second-largest religion in the world and that it is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
• Use the handouts to give more information about Christianity and its key beliefs and practices.
• Ask students to take notes on the information provided.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a topic to research.
• Have each group create a presentation using computer software or creative technology to share what they have learned with the class.
• Allow time for students to ask questions and make comments on what they have learned.

Independent Practice

• Assign a project that involves applying what the students have learned. This could be a project on a religious figure, a comparison of different religions, or a project that incorporates religious values into everyday life.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson and ask the students to share something they learned during the class.

Assessment

• Students will complete a quiz to assess their understanding of the main points of the lesson.
