Objectives & Outcomes

• To understand the concept of seasons and their characteristics
• To be able to identify the seasons in the philippines and their corresponding characteristics

Materials

• Pictures of different seasons (e.g. winter, spring, summer, autumn)
• Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they have ever experienced different seasons in their country or in their hometown.
• Ask them to describe the different seasons that they have experienced and their corresponding characteristics.

Direct Instruction

• Provide a brief introduction to the concept of seasons and their corresponding characteristics.
• Explain that there are only wet and dry seasons in the Philippines because of the country's location and climate.
• Show the students a map of the Philippines and point out the location of the country in relation to the equator and the Pacific and Indian oceans.
• Explain that the Philippines is located in the tropics, which is the region around the equator where the temperature is generally warm to hot all year round.
• Explain that the wet season in the Philippines occurs during the summer months, from May to October, when moisture from the Pacific Ocean is drawn towards the country by the prevailing winds.
• Explain that the dry season in the Philippines occurs during the winter months, from November to April, when the trade winds blow away moisture from the country.

Guided Practice

• Give the students a handout with pictures and descriptions of the different seasons in the Philippines.
• Have the students work in pairs and ask them to identify the season or seasons shown in each picture.
• As the students work, circulate around the room and provide assistance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have the students create a class project that illustrates the different aspects of each season in the Philippines.
• Students can draw or paint a picture of the landscape during each season, and write a short description of what life is like during that season.

Closure
