Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Japanese dictionary

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they have ever traveled to a foreign country before.
• Ask them to share their experiences and what languages they had to learn to communicate with the locals.
• Ask them to share any difficulties they had in learning those languages.
• Encourage them to be creative and come up with any ideas on how to learn a new language effectively.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of basic Japanese words and their importance in communication.
• Show a list of basic Japanese words and have the students memorize them.
• Use the words in a conversation with the students to demonstrate their practical use.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into pairs and give each pair a conversation topic.
• Have the students practice using the basic Japanese words in their conversation with their partner.
• Encourage the students to think creatively and use the words in different ways.

Independent Practice

• Give each student a sheet of paper with a list of basic Japanese words.
