Objectives & Outcomes

  • Examples of sentences in the present simple tense

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they can recall what the present tense is and what it is used for.
  • Write the following sentences on the board:
  • I go to school every day.
  • She sings in a band.
  • They play soccer on weekends.
  • Ask students to correct any errors they find in the sentences.

Direct Instruction

  • Explain that the present simple tense is used to talk about habitual or ongoing actions or states. This includes actions that happen every day, actions that continue over a period of time, and actions that are always true.
