Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to identify and write the alphabets correctly.

Materials

  • Pencils
  • Paper
  • Alphabet cards (or a printout of the alphabets)
  • Activity sheet (or a worksheet with alphabets written on it)

Warm-up

  • Show the students the alphabet cards and have them identify the alphabets.
  • Ask them to write the alphabets on the paper.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the alphabets and their corresponding sounds.
  • Have the students repeat after you as you say the alphabets and their corresponding sounds.
  • Show the students how to write the alphabets on the paper.

Guided Practice

  • Have the students work in pairs and give each pair a set of alphabets to write.
  • Have the students help each other with writing the alphabets.
  • Have the students hold up their written alphabets for you to check.

Independent Practice

  • Have the students cut out the alphabets and arrange them in alphabetical order.
  • Have the students glue the alphabets onto a piece of paper and label the alphabetical order.

Closure

  • Ask the students to recite the alphabetical order and point to each letter as they say it.
  • Ask the students to bring their completed alphabetical order home to show their parents.

Assessment

  • Observe the students as they complete their own alphabetical order and give feedback on their ability to order the letters correctly.
  • Collect the students' alphabetical order and review them to assess their understanding of the concept.
