Warm-up

  • Have students retell the story using their own words and adding any additional details.
  • As a group, discuss the different characteristics and traits of a good friend that are exhibited in the story.
  • Write the characteristics on the whiteboard and have students add any additional traits.

Independent Practice

  • Have students choose a friend that they know well and complete the "What Makes a Good Friend?" activity sheet.
  • Encourage students to discuss their responses with their group and consider the characteristics and traits discussed during the guided practice.

Closure

  • Have students share their responses to the "What Makes a Good Friend?" activity sheet with the class.
  • Discuss as a group the different characteristics and traits that make a good friend and how they can be helpful to us.

Assessment

  • Observe students during the independent practice activity and provide feedback on their presentations.
