Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to understand the concept of cyber ethics and its importance in creating a safe online environment.

Materials

• Computers with internet access
• Handout on cyber ethics,crime and safety

Warm-up

• Ask students to share their experience of using the internet.
• Ask them how they can make the internet a safer place to use.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the topic of cyber ethics,crime and safety.
• Explain that the internet can be a great place for learning, communicating and entertainment, but it can also be a dangerous place.
• Highlight the importance of digital safety and the responsibilities of online behaviour.
• Discuss some of the key issues related to cyber ethics, such as online harassment, cyberbullying, identity theft and digital fraud.
• Provide students with some practical tips on how to stay safe online, such as not sharing personal information, not engaging with strangers, and using anti-virus software.

Guided Practice

• Divide students into small groups and give each group a scenario related to cyber ethics,crime and safety.
• Ask the groups to discuss the issue and come up with a solution.
• Bring the class back together and have each group present their scenario and solution to the class.
• Discuss as a class the different solutions and the ethical implications of each one.

Independent Practice

• Give students a project-based assignment in which they have to research a real-world example of cyber ethics,crime and safety and write a report on it.
• Encourage students to think critically about the issue and consider the ethical implications of the example they have chosen.
