Objectives & Outcomes

• The students will be able to understand the role of local government within the framework of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia.

Materials

• Textbook or other reading materials on the structure and function of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia
• Handouts or worksheets on the role of local government in the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia

Warm-up

• Ask the students what they already know about local government in Indonesia. Write their answers on the board.
• Ask the students to name the different levels of government in Indonesia (national, provincial, and local).
• Ask the students to give an example of a local government agency or office that they are familiar with. Write their answers on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Review the structure of local government in Indonesia, including the roles and responsibilities of the national, provincial, and local levels of government.
• Discuss the importance of local government in providing services and implementing policies at the local level.
• Show the students the handout with information about local government in Indonesia, and go over the key points together.

Guided Practice

• Divide the students into small groups and give each group a copy of a map of their province or district.
• Have the students use the map to locate their village and write down the name of their village.
• Have the students discuss the main services provided by their local government, and how these services benefit the people living in their village.
• Have the students share their thoughts and information with the class.

Independent Practice

• Have the students create a brochure about their village or the area they live in. The brochure should include information about the local government, the main services provided by the government, and how these services benefit the people living in the village.
• Ask the students to use the dictionaries to find the English translations of the Indonesian words they need to include in their brochure.
• Have the students present their brochures to the class.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson and ask the students to share what they learned about the role of local governments in the Indonesian
• Ask the students to share one way in which local governments in their village or area they live in benefit the people living there.

Assessment

• Observe the students during the class discussion and the role-playing activity to assess their understanding of the topic.
• Review the students' written work to assess their ability to explain the importance of local governments and the ways in which they benefit the people.
