Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Writing samples containing grammar errors

Warm-up

• Ask students to read a short passage and find the grammar errors.
• Ask students to explain why the errors are incorrect and how to correct them.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of grammar errors and their corrected sentences.
• Examples of grammar errors include:
• Using the wrong verb tense (e.g. "I go to school" rather than "I went to school")
• Using the wrong pronoun (e.g. "It is I" instead of "It is me")
• Using the wrong adjective or adverb (e.g. "I am very happy" instead of "I am very very happy")
• Explain how to correct these errors and give examples. For example, for the wrong pronoun error, students should look at the context and replace the pronoun with the appropriate one.

Guided Practice

• Pass out the worksheets with examples of grammar errors and their corrected sentences.
• Have students work in pairs to identify the errors and correct them.
• Have students share their corrected sentences with the class and explain their choices.
