Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify, name, and use the different forms of verbs in English.

Materials

• Whiteboard and markers
• Handouts with examples of the different forms of verbs

Warm-up

• Ask students to share the different forms of verbs they already know. Write these on the board.
• Ask students to explain the meaning of each form and provide examples of how they would use them in a sentence.
• Review the different forms of verbs and their meanings.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the different forms of verbs and their meanings.
• Use examples and provide practice opportunities for students to identify and use the different forms of verbs.
• Emphasize the importance of understanding the different forms of verbs in order to communicate effectively.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a set of verb cards.
• Ask the groups to sort the verbs into the categories introduced in the direct instruction portion of the lesson.
• Have the groups share their sorted verbs with the class and explain their reasoning for sorting the verbs as they did.
• Allow the class to discuss and provide feedback on the sorted verbs.

Independent Practice

• Provide each student with a verb card and ask them to identify the -form of the verb and write a sentence using the verb.
• Allow the students to work independently and check their work as they complete the activity.

Closure

• Have the students share their sentences with the class and explain the -use of the verb-form in their sentence.
• Ask the students to reflect on the lesson and discuss the importance of understanding the different forms of a verb and how they can change the -meaning of a sentence.

Assessment

• Observe the students during independent practice to assess their understanding of the different forms of verb and their ability to use them correctly in a sentence.
• Collect the students' written work and assess their ability to use different forms of verb in a sentence correctly.
