Warm-up

  • Ask students if they have ever used a computer or cell phone before.
  • Ask them to describe the process of using a computer or cell phone.
  • Ask them if they have ever used any software on their computer or cell phone.
  • Ask them to describe the process of using software.
  • Discuss the different parts of a computer or cell phone and their functions.

Direct Instruction

  • Show students pictures or illustrations of different types of hardware, such as the CPU, hard drive, RAM, and motherboard.
  • Discuss the functions of each type of hardware and how they work together to make a computer or cell phone function.
  • Show students pictures or illustrations of different types of software, such as word processing software, gaming software, and operating systems.
  • Discuss the functions of each type of software and how it works with the hardware to enable users to perform different tasks on a computer or cell phone.

  • Have students work in pairs to identify and describe the function of each type of hardware and software shown in the images or illustrations.
