Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

  • Spanish sentences cards with phrases for introductions (e.g. "my name is...", "where are you from?")
  • Spanish-language newspapers or magazines for reading practice
  • A whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

  • Have students sit in a circle.
  • Ask students to introduce themselves, saying their name and a quick sentence about themselves (e.g. "my name is Alice, I like to play soccer").
  • Once all students have had a chance to introduce themselves, ask them to turn to their neighbor and ask each other questions about themselves (e.g. "where are you from?").

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the concept of Spanish and its importance as a world language.
