Learning Goal

Students are learning to evaluate the sustainability of food and fibre production

Intro:

Explain to students that they will conduct a research project on sustainability based on one of the lessons we have covered throughout the unit. We are go to work in pairs/groups of three (pre selected). Remind students we have studied cotton, dairy, beef, forestry and fisheries. They are going to select one of the following to research for themselves, and create a presentation about.

Session 2 - Students can put their research into full sentences, create their presentation

We will then come back together as a class and have a discussion on the presentations and the information each group found. We will discuss the positive and negative impacts of each type of farming and how they can be improved for a more sustainable future. Students will be asked to bring in examples of sustainable farming practices they have seen in their everyday lives and how they can be applied to different types of farming.
