Topic: New testament stories

Objectives & Outcomes

  • Students will be able to understand the main points of the short stories in the New Testament and be able to relate them to their lives.

Materials

  • Copies of the short stories in the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)
  • Pencils and paper for each student
  • The Bible for reference

Warm-up

  • Ask the students if they have heard of the New Testament before.What do they know about it?
  • Ask the students to name the four gospels in the New Testament.
  • Ask the students to raise their hands if they have read any of the gospels in the New Testament.
  • Ask the students if they can name any other books in the New Testament.
  • Write the following words on the board: Epistle, Acts, Revelation, and Psalms. Ask the students if they know what these words mean.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the students to the New Testament and its content.
  • Tell the students that the New Testament contains 27 books in total, including four gospels, 19 Epistles, one Revelation, and one Psalms.
  • Explain to the students that the gospels are accounts of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • Explain to the students that the Epistles are letters written by early Christians to address various issues and concerns.
  • Explain to the students that the Revelation is the final book in the New Testament, and it is a vision of the future of mankind.
  • Explain to the students that the Psalms are poems and songs of praise to God.

Guided Practice

  • Divide the students into small groups and give each group a copy of a short story from the New Testament.
  • Have the students read the story and discuss it together.
  • Ask the students questions to facilitate the discussion, such as:
  • What is the main idea of this story?
  • What lessons can we learn from this story?
  • How does this story relate to our lives?
  • Why is this story important to the Christian faith?

Independent Practice

  • Have the students choose a short story from the New Testament that they find particularly interesting or inspiring.
