Objectives & Outcomes

• To understand the rules and positions of kabaddi game.

Materials

• A volleyball court or open space
• Two teams of equal number of players
• A ball (may be a regulation-size volleyball or a modified-size balloon)
• Markers or colored pencils for marking the court

Warm-up

• Review the basic rules of volleyball. Have the students play a game of volleyball to get them energized and familiar with the rules.
• After the game, switch to a discussion about kabaddi and its differences from volleyball.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the game of kabaddi and its basic rules. Show the students a demonstration of the game, including the positions of the players and the actions that can be taken.
• Explain the importance of cooperation and communication among players in order to make effective plays.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into teams of about 4-6 players.
• Have each team designate one player as the captain who will be responsible for communicating with the other players and directing the plays.
• Place the teams in opposite lanes and have them begin the game.
• Walk around the room and provide guidance and support as needed.

**For a more advanced variation of the game, you can have the teams play against a wall and try to tag the opposing team's players with their hands as they pass by.

Independent Practice

• Have students organize into teams and play a game of kabaddi in the classroom.
• Encourage students to use the strategies and techniques they have learned to help their team win the game.

Closure

• Review the rules of kabaddi and the positions of the players.
• Ask students to share any new strategies or techniques they learned during the game.

Assessment

• Observe students during the game and take notes on their understanding of the rules and positions.
• Collect and review the posters created by the students to assess their understanding of the rules and positions of kabaddi.
