Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to demonstrate proper hand movements and positions used in cheerleading.

Materials

• Cheerleading pom poms
• Cheerleading megaphone
• Cheerleading uniforms (optional)

Warm-up

• Have the students stretch their bodies by doing the following stretches: shoulder stretches, arm stretches, leg stretches, and hip stretches.
• After the stretches, have the students do some light aerobic exercises such as jumping jacks, running in place, or knee lifts.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the cheerleading hand movements and positions to the students. Show them the hand movements and positions using a cheerleading pom pom or a pair of hand gloves.
• Demonstrate the proper techniques for each cheerleading hand movement and position. Emphasize the importance of proper body alignment and posture in each movement and position.

Guided Practice
