Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to identify and describe the significant persons and events in Australia from 1700 - 1860s.

Materials

• Images of significant persons and events in Australia 1700 - 1860s
• Chart paper and markers

Warm-up

• Have students draw a time line on the chart paper, starting from the earliest period of Australia's history (1700s) and ending at the latest period of Australia's history (1860s).
• Ask them to label the time line with significant events that happened during this period.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the topic of first contacts and Australian colonies.
• Show the pictures of significant persons and events from 1700s-1860s, and discuss their roles and impact on Australia's history.
• Use the textbook and other resources as references.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups.
