• Examples of behaviors that demonstrate each concept
• Colored pencils or markers

Warm-up

• Review the concept of cultural diversity and discuss what it means to be culturally competent. Ask students to provide examples of behaviors or traits that demonstrate cultural competence.
• Next, introduce the concept of infused cultural diversity and discuss what it means to be culturally diverse. Ask students to provide examples of behaviors or traits that demonstrate infused cultural diversity.

Direct Instruction

• Review the definition of competence and discuss why it is important for students to be competent in the content they are learning.
• Next, introduce the concept of cultural diversity and its importance in the classroom. Discuss how infused cultural diversity can help to ensure that all students are included and their unique backgrounds and experiences are valued and considered.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in small groups to come up with a list of characteristics or behaviors that demonstrate culturally competent and infused cultural diversity in the classroom.
• Have each group share their list with the class and discuss any differences or additions.

Independent Practice

• Have students use their own experiences and the discussions in class to create a list of specific adaptations or changes they could make to their own behavior and approach to teaching to be more culturally competent and infused with cultural diversity.
• Have students present their lists to the class and discuss any differences or additions.

• Review the main points of the class and ask students to reflect on what they have learned and how they can apply it to their own teaching.
