Topic: Weather around the country

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to label a map of the UK with the French language for the weather.

Materials

• Map of the UK
• French language weather vocabulary
• Markers or pens

Warm-up

• Ask students if they know what the weather is like in different parts of the UK.
• Write their answers on the board.
• Ask students if they know how to say the weather in French.
• Write their answers on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Show students a map of the UK and point out the different regions.
• Ask students to repeat the French phrases for the weather in each region.
• Encourage them to repeat after you, and make sure they pronounce the words correctly.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups and give each group a set of French phrases for the weather.
• Have them work together to match the phrases to the correct region on the map.
• Have a few groups share their work with the class and provide feedback as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students choose one region on the map and create a collage or poster showing the typical weather conditions for that region.
• Encourage them to use the French phrases they learned to label their collage or poster.
