Topic: The Gift of Listening

Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will understand the importance of listening and how it can help build relationships.

Materials

• Pencils and paper
• Copies of the poem "Listen" by Renée Magritte

Warm-up

• Ask the students to share a time when someone listened to them and how it made them feel.
• Ask the students to share a time when they didn't listen to someone and how it made them feel.

• Distribute construction paper and markers to the students.
• Explain that they are going to create an alien character based on their own personality.
• Ask them to think about the characteristics that make them unique and then use those to create their alien.
• Have them work with a partner to brainstorm ideas and then create the alien character together.
