Objectives & Outcomes

• Students will be able to use the past tense correctly in their writing and speaking.

Materials

• Pencils
• Paper
• Past tense worksheets (one for each student)

Warm-up

• Ask the students to name some words that end with "-ed".
• Have the students share some sentences with the class that use the past tense.
• Review some examples of the past tense using a chart or poster.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of the past tense.
• Explain that we use the past tense to talk about actions that are completed or finished in the past.
• Give some examples of using the past tense, such as "I played" and "She walked".
• Demonstrate how to conjugate regular verbs in the past tense, using the chart or poster as a reference.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in pairs or small groups to complete a set of exercises or worksheets focusing on conjugating regular verbs in the past tense.
• Provide support and guidance as needed.

Independent Practice

• Have students create a classroom-themed "Past Tense Board Game".
• Students will use their past tense skills to complete the game.

Closure

• Review the main points of the lesson: Past tense is used to talk about actions that occurred in the

past.

• Ask students to share any new past tense words that they learned.
