Introducing Someone Lesson Plan for 5th Grade Students

Topic: introducing someone

Objectives & Outcomes

• By the end of this lesson, students will be able to introduce themselves and their classmates in a proper and respectful manner.

Materials

• Pencils and paper for each student
• Whiteboard and markers

Warm-up

• Ask students to introduce themselves by saying their name, age, and where they are from.
• Then, have them introduce a classmate by saying their name and something interesting or important about them.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the concept of introducing oneself and giving basic personal information such as name, age, and where you are from.
• Demonstrate how to introduce yourself by saying your name, age, and where you are from.
• Ask students to watch and then try to imitate what you did.

Guided Practice

• Have students work in pairs and give each pair a set of index cards.
• Have them write their own name, age, and where they are from on the index cards.
• Have them practice introducing themselves to their partner by saying their name, age, and where they are from.

Independent Practice

• Have students work in groups of 3-4 and choose one person to start.
• Have the starting person say their name, age, and where they are from.
• Have the group members take turns introducing themselves.
• Encourage the group to use the vocabulary words from the lesson (name, age, where -from).

Closure

• Have students share one thing about themselves that they learned during the introduction.
• Ask the class to repeat the new words and phrases.

Assessment

• Observe students during the independent practice to see if they are able to form sentences and use the new words and phrases correctly.
• Collect and review the written reports for understanding of the new words and phrases and ability to form sentences.
