Materials

  • Lemonade mix

Warm-up

  • Ask students if they have ever had lemonade before and if so, where they usually buy it from.
  • Ask students if they have ever run a business before and if so, what kind of business it was and what they did.
  • Write the following words on the board: "lemonade stand", "business", "logistics", "franchise", "entrepreneurship"

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the topic of lemonade stands and explain that the class is going to work together to create their own lemonade stand.
  • Discuss the logistics of running a lemonade stand, including the equipment and supplies that are needed, how to set up and manage the pricing, and how to advertise the stand.
  • Explain the concept of franchising and entrepreneurship, and how these can be applied to lemonade stands. Discuss the benefits and risks of franchising and the factors to consider when deciding whether to start a business on your own or franchise.
  • Provide students with the handouts and materials related to lemonade stands and entrepreneurship, and go over them as a class.

Guided Practice

  • Have students work in small groups to brainstorm ideas for their own lemonade stand. Encourage them to consider the location, the layout, the menus, and the marketing strategies.
