Objectives & Outcomes

Materials

• Pictures or videos of railways
• Worksheets with questions about railways

Warm-up

• Ask the students if they have ever travelled by train before.Ask them to share their experience and what they saw on the journey.
• Display photos or videos of railways and ask the students to describe what they are seeing.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce the topic of railways and explain that they are a system of tracks and trains that are used for transportation.
• Discuss the different types of railways, such as freight railways, subway railways, and tramways.
• Explain the importance of railways in our daily lives, and how they help to transport goods and people across the country.
• Ask the students to think about the impact of railways on the environment, society, and economy.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups, and give each group a sheet of paper and a pencil.
• Ask the students to brainstorm ideas about the impact of railways on the environment, society, and economy.
• Have each group share their ideas with the class, and write them down on the tray chart.
• Encourage the students to come up with as many ideas as possible.

Independent Practice

• Give each group a piece of construction paper, and ask them to create a collage representing the impact of railways on the environment, society, and economy.
• Encourage the students to use their brainstormed ideas and any additional research to create their collages.
• When the collages are complete, have the students present their collages to the class and explain their ideas.

Closure

• As a class, review the key points discussed during the lesson, and discuss any additional insights the students may have about the impact of railways on the environment, society, and economy.
• Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned and how they can apply this knowledge to their own lives.

Assessment
