Objectives & Outcomes

Materials:

• Articles on technology use in youth (ethical issues, trends, rules, etc.)
• Writing paper
• Pencils
• Video on technology use in young children

Warm-up

• Write the following question on the board: "How do you think technology can have positive and negative effects on children?"
• Ask students to think about their answer for a few minutes.
• Next, have students turn and talk with their table mates
• Then, have a class discussion and write down the students' responses on the board.

Direct Instruction

• Introduce some current trends with young children and technology use
• Read a few articles and watch a video about current trends, ethical issues, and rules with technology use in children
• Discuss the issues that are presented in the articles and video.
• Use a handouts with questions to guide the discussion.

Guided Practice

• Divide the class into small groups.
• Have each group discuss some of the ethical issues, trends, and rules with children and technology use
