Objectives & Outcomes

  • Identify the letters of the alphabet by their sounds using the computer and integrating faith and learning

Materials

  • Computer with internet access
  • Alphabet song (optional)

Warm-up

  • Show the students the alphabet and ask them to identify the letters.
  • Have the students sing the alphabet song with you.

Direct Instruction

  • Introduce the letters of the alphabet to the students and show them on the computer.
  • Have the students repeat the names of the letters after you.
  • Have the students identify the letters by their sounds. For example, say the sound "a" and have the students point to the letter "a."

Guided Practice

  • Have the students work in pairs and take turns identifying the letters by their sounds and showing them to their partner.

Independent Practice

  • Have the students create an alphabet book. Each page should feature a letter of the alphabet and an object that begins with that letter. For example, the "A" page could feature an apple. The students should write the letter and the word for the object on each page.

Closure

  • Review the letters of the alphabet and their corresponding sounds.
  • Have the students share one thing they learned about the alphabet today.

Assessment

  • Observe the students during independent practice to ensure they are accurately identifying the letters of the alphabet and correctly pronouncing their corresponding sounds.
  • Take note of any difficulties the students may be having and provide additional support as needed.
